I can not seem to get Dragon for Mac to work on my Parallels 12. Is it better just to purchased the Dragon for windows version over this Mac version. Or is there a setting that I don't have right to get it to work. Sometimes it works but will not dictate the words correctly even when it does work.

I have a MacBook Pro 2015 that is running El Captian with Parallels Destop for Mac Pro Edition

    Thanks for any help

Are you trying to run the Mac edition inside your Windows VM? You will need the Windows version to run inside your VM I would say because you are wanting the voice recognition software to control the operating system. Unless parallels can route commands received from the Mac side directly to Windows but I know control goes to the guest OS when it is in view

I use Dragon 5 on my Mac at the moment. Or I should say try to use as the product quality is pretty bad. The feature for feature comparison with the Windows version is pretty poor also. I'm seriously thinking about switching to the Windows version which seems to be better received and supported. I suspect they are completely different product streams in Nuance.

They do have a 30 day money back guarantee so you could consider getting both and then seeing which works better for you. I'm in the lucky position of not needing the application control features apart from within Word as I just want to work on documents. If you want to control the OS or do things like email then you're probably suck with the Mac version. However, at least for version 5, much of that didn't work reliably for me anyway. It was always a good way to corrupt an email.

The is exactly what I was wanting to do, I may need to cancel the Mac and go with the win version of Dragon. if the Dragon 6 will not work with running Parallels with win 10. I have been using a win version so far in my Parallels.

Any updates on this? I'm looking to use Dragon Medical for Mac (version 5) with Citrix, but in some cases need to use Parallels with Windows 10 and connect via Citrix there, instead of natively on the Mac side. Will Dragon running on the Mac side allow me to dictate and have text entered properly within Parallels? Or do I need to buy the Windows version of Dragon and dictate solely within Windows? Anyone with experience with any Dragon version (not just medical), I'd be interested to hear your experience.
