Whenever I first boot, things are ok, but after an hour or more, the desktop seems to become stagnant and doesn't update. I can't highlight anything on the desktop visibly, but it DOES highlight it in the background, just no visual confirmation of success. New icons of saved files to my desktop do not show up. Dragging icons to a new location shows a ghosted icon as I drag, but the original stays where it started and after I let go it gets snapped to the grid in it's new location, but is invisible. I can click on the invisible icon and it works, and the original location of the shortcut no longer works. So it IS moving the file, but it's just not updating the desktop layout, etc. Once in a while, if I hold down the windows key and press D (desktop) it will minimize my windows and the desktop will refresh and come back to life for a bit, but usually even that doesn't work.
I am using windows 10 pro 64bit. I should mention that I am NOT sharing my desktop with OSX. I have a separate desktop under the normal C:\Users\profile\Desktop location.
Hi ErikT2, Try performing steps provided in this Microsoft article & let us know how it goes. Thanks.
Thank you for the link, but that's a different situation than my experiences. My desktop icons stay in place, they are just frozen. Almost like a screenshot was taken and placed as my background. New icons don't show up, and icons I move or delete don't disappear. If I share my desktop with OSX, the problem goes away. It's only a consistent problem when I disable the shared desktop and have a stand alone desktop in windows. I just created a brand new windows 10 VM and it behaves the same way. Sadly it takes an hour or two before it becomes a problem. EDIT: I should also note I'm using a MBPr mid 2015 with the AMD graphics card and 3 monitors. (Laptop screen disabled)
