    Hello,

I have successfully installed and upgraded to Win 10, however when I open Parallels, it shows that I'm opening Win 7 - which isn't true. How do I get Parallels to show Win 10?

    Thank you,

    Hello @GuyP2,
The name of the virtual machine is user defined and can be changed.

    Sasti,
Using the instructions in the link you provided, I am unable to change my Virtual Machine name. My current virtual machine name is Windows 7. I wish to change it to Windows 10. I am unable to use the Configure menu in either the Parallels Desktop menu, the Settings button in the Virtual Machine window, or the Parallels menu bar icon to make the change. When the Configure window is open, a yellow banner says that some settings cannot be changed while the virtual machine is running, so I shut the machine down. Now, the Configure menu in the menu bar icon for Parallels is unavailable, the Parallels Desktop menu item Actions is unavailable, and the Settings button in the Virtual Machine window does not have a Configure menu selection. How do I rename my virtual machine?
    Thank you,
    Scott

    Hi ScottW3,

Even when your VM is not running you can open the configuration and change settings. Refer this article for steps then rename the VM.

    Thanks,
    Ajith M.

    Ajith,
Thank you. I had followed the directions in that article earlier (I thought), and when the VM was shut down I was unable to rename the machine in the configuration window. However, I tried it again just now, and WAS able to change the name.

    Hi ScottW3,

If you have closed VM while it is shutting down then it will go to suspend state. We understand now you have changed the VM name. Feel free to reach out anytime.

    Thanks,
    Ajith M.
