Hello, unfortunately I can't shrink or compress my virtual disk anymore. It always says that there are only 0 MB to compress, which can't be true. User/shared/Parallels/Windows 7.pvm --> content shows: 56 GB Windows 7-0.hdd User/shared/Parallels/Windows 7.pvm/Windows 7-0.hdd --> content shows several files including: - Windows 7-0.hdd with 0 Byte - Windows 7-0.hdd.0.{5fbaabe3-6958-40ff-92a7-860e329aab41}.hds with 56 GB I think the Parallels compressor only finds the 0 Byte of the Win 7.hdd but not of the Win7.hdd.XXX.hds I don't have any snapshots, so can't merge anything. Strange is, that when I try to resize the virtual disk, an error occurs like: "disk is not readable" My system: MacBook Air mid 2012, 1,8 GHz Intel Core i5, OS X El Capitain 10.11.4, Parallels 11.1.2 (32408) Would be glad if anyone could help me... can't even save any word documents due to insufficient space. Jessica PS: Sorry, the screenshots are in german, but I guess you will know what I mean with them.
Hi Jessica4, Please perform the steps outlined at this link and let us know how it works. Thanks, Dhana.
Hi Diana, thank you for the hint. I didn't have enough space on my hard disk to divide it into 2 GB parts. Copied it to an external one. Parallels is still in dividing mode, since one day now, but nearly finished. Will report, when it's done. Jessica
Hi Dhana, I' sorry but it's still not working. That's what i did: 1. Checked, if there are any snapshots - no 2. Step 2: VM/Config/security - couldn't find the explained option "data media undone" (translated from german) 3. checked the 2GB button (took about 1,5 days), afterwards I unchecked the 2 GB button and pressed apply (took about 0,5 days) 4. the complete volume was assigned to the primary partition 5. I did the terminal thing (including the space bar between the command 'prl_disk_tool merge --hdd' and 'the file path' But after pressing Enter nothing 'special' happened. Still can't compress the volume. Is it possible, that the partition is smaller than it needed to be: Windows shows 56 GB of occupied data, but the whole volume is only 52,2 GB ?! PS: My Windows is running from an external disk. Thanks in advance!
.hdd is virtual hard disk file try mounting with Mac ( right click open with Parallels mounter check in Finder whether mounted) If virtual hard disk .hdd not mounting, please check the size of the file. You can remove if no use on the particular file to clear free space in your Mac (please take a backup before removing in case if needed).
