A week a go my whole Win7 machine just disappeared off my MacBook Pro. Parallels was still installed but Windows and applications were gone with no warning. I bought a new W7 install disk, did the install and added back by programs. Just after that I got a screen that said not to turn off machine or reboot because it was updating the WIndows system update 112 of 191. That screen has locked the WIndows system and I have tried everything to get it started again. I want to try a safe start of the system (which is usually holding the F8 key) but that does not work. I'd like to avoid a whole new install again. Parallels help doesn't and seems not interested in my problem.

    Hello Darrell,

Please perform steps outlined at this link to stop your frozen virtual machine. Once you have your Windows started normally, perform the steps outlined at this link to troubleshoot Windows update issues. By the way, starting Windows in safe mode is explained here.
    Thanks,
    Dhana.
