I am using Windows 8, Parallels 10 and Yosemite 10.10.5. When I try to access the Windows Applications in Parallels, I see the applications but I cannot click on anything in them. For instance, if I open Excel, I see the last files used, but cannot open the files. When I first received this issue, i got a message about needing to upgrade Parallels, but I have not gotten that message again. I did review the knowledge base and re-added Parallels to my System Preferences but that did not change anything. Do I just need to upgrade even through the apps should be compatible? What do I need to upgrade? Will I lose any data?

    Hello KrisKT6331tinT,
Could you try reinstalling the Parallels tools(Actions->Reinstall Parallels tools). Open Configuration, go to Option>Applications. Enable the 'Share Windows applications with Mac' option. Under 'Security' tab, make sure that 'Isolate Windows from Mac' options is disabled. Let us know how it works.

Parallels Tools installation doesn't take that long. Try the following to reinstall Parallels tools,
    1. Shutdown the Windows, Actions>Shutdown. If the Windows is frozen, Actions>Stop.
    2. Start the Windows.
    3. Click on Windows Start button and open Run command box.
    4. Type %temp% and hit Enter.
    5. Find PrlToolsPackages folder -> double click on setup.
Let us know if this helps.

Thanks. It allowed me to shutdown. After I did that, I restarted the PC. It may have worked... I see my files now and can open quicken. I will play with it a little more and let you know if I still need help. I did not try the re-install again. Let me know if you think that would be more complete.

@KrisKT6331tinT Great! If the Windows is working fine, Parallels tools re-installation might not be required. However, if there is an issue, try the re-installation first. Feel free to reach out any time.
