I am having a problem with an external hard drive in Windows 10 being run on Parallels 11. I am limited in storage on my MacBook Pro so am using an external hard drive to store files. I have an app that organizes and downloads sign language video files that easily recognizes any external flash drive, however, refuses to recognize my external hard drive. (I previously did not have this issue, but began to have it once everything was upgraded to Windows 10 and Parallels 11) I have tried to reconfigure everything I could think of with no success. Windows 10 recognizes everything and is able to transfer files to and from the devices. I have also tried other drives formatted FAT32 or NTFS to see if they are recognized, and nothing - only flash drives are recognized and useable by the app. I have noticed in windows explorer that the flash drive shows up as a completely separate drive as well as a drive listed under "This PC", whereas the external hard drive only is listed under "This PC" and not shown as a separate drive (if that makes sense). I need to store around 1 TB of information, so a flash drive just isn't going to cut it. Any feedback anyone has on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Thanks so much for the step by step. I reinstalled the tools and still am having the same problem. Any other ideas?
Hey @Sam9, Start your Windows virtual machine then from Mac menu Devices > External Devices then select USB device which you want to connect to Windows. Also, refer this for more information and let us know if this helps?
