    Hi,

I have a copied a pvm file to an external drive (because I need space on my drive). I have used twice the copied file on parallels with no problems, but now I can not open. The following error messages shows:

"No operating system installed in this virtual machine. Insert an operating system installation CD into the optical drive of your Mac and restart the virtual machine".

    Thanks in advance,
    Vanessa

Hello Vanessa2, the error message indicates that Windows Operating System is not installed in the Virtual Machine. Please check out the instructions outlined in this article and let us know how it works. Thanks!

    Thank you for your reply.
In order to install a new windows, will a new pvm file be created? The idea was to move the information from my mac to external drive, and it was working without any problem and any other file was removed since then.

    Hello Vanessa2,
Whenever you create a new Virtual Machine, a respective PVM file will be created automatically. You can map the data of your old virtual machine to the new virtual machine with referring to this link.
