Running a W7 VM created in osx10.9 wit parallels 8, on another machine running osx10.10 parallels 10

Ive got an old Windows7 VM created with parallels 8 on a mac running osx10.9 that i installed a critical piece of windows software on. I no longer have the installer for this software and cant get my hands on it anywhere, so the only way i can use it is to open the old laptop and run parallels there.

On my new machine (osx10.10, parallels 10) Ive tried connecting the HD from the old laptop via an HD enclosure, but when i try and boot the VM it just spins in parallels 10.

Is this even possible to run a Parallels 8 VM via Parallels 10 ? If so am i not doing it the right way ?

 

Hello saml2, You could try transferring the Virtual Machine file to the new Mac and check if if works.
