I have recently installed Parallels 11 with Windows 7. When I activate the Windows/Parallels window and click on it the cursor disappears and I get a 'ctrl-alt to free cursor' message in the upper border. I press 'ctrl-alt', and I see the cursor again (the typical arrow), but when I again mouse-click in the Windows window, it disappears once more (and doesn't seem to have any effect). I googled this, and saw a little bit about Smart Mouse. I have gone to the configuration menu/Hardware/Keyboard and selected 'don't optimize for games' for both places where that is possible. This had no effect. I must have something set incorrectly. Note that when I originally installed Parallels/Windows the cursor seemed to work fine. I installed 1 program (Auction!) but have not run it yet (this is the whole reason I have installed Parallels/Windows on my Mac), and then got a message 'out of memory' (not 'virtual memory'). i shut down my Mac, and have not had a working cursor since. I am running El Capitaine, if that has any impact on this.
Dhruba - I can't do anything in Windows - I am not able to select anything. The mouse is basically ineffective. How can I uninstall Parallels Tools without the mouse?
Hi @SusanA, please write us an email at [email protected] so that we can help you make the virtual machine work properly.
I am having the same problem, could you please publish the solution? At the same time the window size for Windows 10 automatically reduced to a smaller (minimum?) size on a Retina display. The resizing can only be performed in the same XY proportion and the screen font is not adjusted/optimised. It had been working fine for several months, I do not know what may have caused this behaviour.
