title says it all, but in detail:

I have a Mac running 10.9.5 and Parallels 9 with Windows 7 Pro installed. It's time to upgrade the Mac OS to El Capitan, and I will upgrade to Parallels 11. Somewhat new to Parallels, so, will my existing Windows computer "come along" for the ride, or will I need to re-install it? Thank you.

    Hello Erik,
You need not reinstall your Windows operating system, the the virtual machine files (.pvm) will be automatically retrieved by the Parallels Desktop.
Update your Parallels Desktop 11 first and then Mac OS X to avoid misconfigurations.
