First upgrade to Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan, then upgrade from Paralles 9 to 11?

Hi!
I´m using an iMac with MAC OS X 10.8.5. and Paralles Desktop 9. The installationprogramm of Paralles Desktop 11 upgrade doesn´t work under MAC OS X 10.8.5., it has to be 10.9.
Is it possible to first upgrade my Mac to OS X 10.11 El Capitan and after that to upgrade Paralles Desktop from 9 to 11?
I´m asking that, because whenever I´m starting Parallels Desktop 9, I get the messeage, that the 9 version doesn´t work with El Capitan.
