Presently using PD11 and El Capitan. Where should the .pvm file be located by default? Presently mine resides in documents/parallels. Is this correct?
Hello Sheldon, By default all virtual machines are stored in /Documents/Parallels or in /Users/Shared/Parallels folders . Please refer to this article for more information.
Hello Sylvester, Thanks for your reply. Why are there 2 possible default locations? Is there a benefit to either one or the other? I want to set up backups to another drive as I am not using TimeMachine to back up my .pvm. Thanks, again for your response!
Yes, if you want to share a virtual machine among several Mac user accounts, you need to place your virtual machine in a directory which is accessible to all those accounts. The optimal variant is the /Users/Shared/ directory, where you can create a dedicated Parallels folder to store all of the virtual machine's files. Every user should have permissions to read, write, and execute the virtual machine's files. For more information, please refer to this article http://kb.parallels.com/9303 Thanks!
