I upgraded today from Parallels 10 to Parallels 11. My Windows 10 pro is on the most recent release (10586 1511). If I start the virtual machine with the graphics option "Scaled" it works, but the font looks rough and ugly. If I start the virtual machine with the graphics option "Retina optimized" the font is perfect, but the "Control Panel" from Windows 10 refuses to open. I tried top open the control panel from the CMD line tool as Admin, but no error message, it simply doesn't open. Is this a Windows 10 problem or a Parallels problem?
Btw, i have also running a Windows 10 10586 (1511), but with Parallels 10 and Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.5. No problems so far. And it's also a MacBook Pro Retina 15". When I used El Capitan together with Parallels 10, the control panel opened, but only when windows 10 ran in Parallels in a window. In full screen mode it didn't open neither. The problem occurs only with El Capitan and Parallels 11
I am having trouble installing on the same Macbook Pro Retina, Parallels 11, El Capitan, the installer simply will not install at all. It doesn't even see the USB drive. It simply doesn't hand off at all. Very very sad. I'm not sure what the Parallels dev team did but I'm kind of shocked that the current version can't see Microsoft created USB drives - especially one with a valid installer that worked in the past.
Try downloading the ISO from http://bit.ly/1LT6FpT and installing Windows 10 as per the steps given in the article http://kb.parallels.com/4729
Can you try to recreate the issue on a test virtual machine created on the same Mac as per http://kb.parallels.com/122641 and let us know how it goes.
I downloaded the Windows 10 test image. The test was positive. With this image I have no issues. The "Retina optimized" mode works without problems. I can open File Explorer as well the Control Panel. The only difference is, that the test image is a Enterprise evaluation version. What can I do? Thanks for replying
Hi, what is the version of Windows did you install? Did you try from the Parallels Wizard which says Modern IE test environment?
I made also a sfc /scannow as Administrator. No problems found. Trying to double click a single *.cpl file doesn't work neither. I updated the system to the latest 10586.36. No result.
I made a Windows System reset. This left all my own files in place and finally resolved the problem. Now Windows 10 pro 10586.39 is working fine. It works, but I'm not happy with the fact, that the update from Windows or OS X caused these problems. Reset or a new install are the last options.
Dear Danil, you would have make some snapshots to back to the previous state. A snapshot is a saved state of the virtual machine. Snapshots can be created manually or automatically when the virtual machine is running. Please create a snapshot as suggested in the article. Thanks!
The previous state is no more available, I already refreshed the system. But now I made a Snapshot to be able to return to a functional VM in case of problems. Thanks for help.
