I installed Dragon Naturally Speaking v. 9.1 in Parallels 3.0 and Windows XP Pro, but I cannot launch it. I receive this error message: "Cannot find multimedia device. Check to see if you computer has a sound card, or if the multimedia wave-in component is missing from the sound card." I would like to use DNS with the build-in microphone, as a user told me it could work greatly this way. I run Mac OS X 10.4.10 on a MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo with 1.5 GB RAM. I allowed the VM to use 1000 MB RAM. Thanks for help!
i don't know why you are getting this message. I would suggest however you are wasting your time if you plan to use DNS with the built in microphone on the MacBook Pro. I would suggest getting the free upgrade to DNS 9.5 and getting a good USB microphone or a good analog microphone with a USB converter. Then configure your system so that USB devices are not automatically connected and do not connect your usb microphone to the VM. Leave the USB microphone selected in the Mac system preferences. This workaround seems to function for most of us.
