Hi there, on my "macbook pro" the only really great programme was Parallels. I used it a lot and got used to using virtual machines in general and to the great features of parallels in particular. Now for some reasons or other I had to dump apple and move back to a windows machine. Question: can I still use parallels on my windows machine for example to run a second windows installation for trial versions? I should like to use my old hdd from my parallels installation on my old macbook pro as well. I found no hint on the parallels website or the internet. All parallels products seem to run on apple computers to install other operating systems. In 2009 there seemed to have been a prallels desktop for windows (found via google), but that is gone by now. It seems, that for a windows host the only virtual machines are "virtual box" by oracle or "vmware" by windows. I should like to stick to parallels even if it is not free. Is there any possibility or do I have to say good bye to one of my favorite programmes? Best regards, rein
Hello Rein, Thank you very much being such a loyal customer, your interest means a lot to us. Very unfortunately Parallels Desktop will not function in a Windows PC and could be installed only on a Mac computer.
Thank you for your quick answer, Sylvester, this is disappointing for me, although I was expecting this answer. The principle of virtual machines ist great. So I want to keep this even on my new windows machine. Maybe it is a suggestion for your company to develop a parallels desktop for windows machines. Compared with "virtual box" or "vmware" your customers would have the benefit to reuse old HDD created on a mac. Let me know, when you got a sollution. Best regards, Reinhard
