    Hello,

I've just moved a VM from Fusion 7 to Parallels, in big part because I'm tired of the \ key not working correctly on Windows using Fusion. It's a bug introduced with version 7 that hasn't been fixed yet... and I have lost any hope to get it fixed. That and a laundry list of small annoyances. Anyway, here I am.

I have finished with the conversion process, and everything seems to work fine. Except that the Ctrl key apparently doesn't work in all cases. At least not in combination with some keys. For instance, Ctrl+F9 doesn't do anything. And that's a big deal, being that I develop with C++Builder/Delphi and that is exactly how you compile stuff (and no, I don't intend to change the access keys just for this, I have worked 15+ years with this and I like it)

I have tried some other combinations of keys and they work, for instance, Ctrl+F8 does work. But Ctrl+F9 does not, and I can't find anything in the configuration to control this. F9 works fine, it's the combination that doesn't.

I have tried with the Windows keyboard profile (that was the default one), and with the Generic one, with no change on this.

Also, don't know if it's related or not to this issue but it's related to keyboard: apparently the key repetition is much slower in the VM than what I have configured on my Mac (and what used to be on Fusion). I have set the Repetition to the level below the right-most, and the wait until repetition is around the center. I still have a VM running on Fusion and there it is what I expect. Where can I change this? Moving the configuration on the Guest doesn't appear to change anything at all, so my guess is that it is Parallels the one to blame here.

I have Parallels 10.2 (the latest update available, according to the program). The Guest is running Windows 8.1 Pro. The Mac is OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rodrigo

    Hi Rodrigo,
Go to the Parallels Desktop menu > Preferences > Shortcuts tab > System Shortcuts > set 'Send System Shortcuts' option to 'Always'. Restart Virtual Machine and use Ctrl key. Please go through http://bit.ly/1Ipsdbd to know more about Customizing Keyboard Shortcuts.

Actually, there is more convenient way to fix this: Parallels Desktop menu > Preferences > Shortcuts tab > Select your Windows VM in left side bar and add key mapping from ^F9 to Ctrl+F9 on the right pane
