I needed to remove Parallels Tools on a Mint 17.2 (Cinnamon) machine. The remove never is successful. Cinnamon will repeatedly crash. There seems to be no recovery method without completely wiping the Mint system and starting over. Luckily I had a snapshot saved. No one at Parallels seems interested in the problem. Its been there since at least Parallels 9. Any help out there on how to successfully remove the tools from Linux (other than an install of VMWare)?
I did try Mint last year (just to see what it looked like) and I noticed that Cinnamon uses a bit of 3D acceleration to work which made it crash every now and then (quite infrequently but still). Running in pure software rendering mode I never had crashes. Running Cinnamon on debian it also did not crash ... Is this a similar issue you are having ? Having said that, why do you need to remove the parallels tools ?
I use Parallels to get a production build of Mint ready and would like to just remove the Parallels tools and move the Linux system off to real hardware. If I can not do that then I have little reason to use Parallels.
Indeed. But I have little experience with the "remove parallels tools" bits. Not sure they worked hard on that part ...
