Parallels 11: no Windows app opens

    I have parallels descktop 11, Windows 10, El Capitan.
    After upgrading to El Capitan, no Windows app opens up in Coherence mode. I get a message saying:
    "There was a problem connecting to the server "local host".
    The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, Check your network connection and then try again"
    Tech support of Parallels, by phone, were unable to solve that saying:
    "Together we have tried to resolve the issue using a number of possible troubleshooting steps, however were not able to succeed yet.
    Since the issue requires a deeper investigation, I am passing your ticket to our next level of support who will follow up with you on your request directly."
    I have not heard back from anyone and am stuck, extremely frustrated, being unable to work.
    Has anybody had a similar problem?
    Can somebody please help?

    Hi, could you provide us with some additional information: for example did you or Tech support reinstall parallels tools?
    Also please generate the problem report using this KB and reply us back with the report ID.

    Thanks for getting back to me Maria.
    Parallels tools were not reinstalled by support. Coherence mode does show, but problem is as described above. Report ID is: 2177505

    This is how the problem was briefly described by your support person in his mail:
    [Parallels #2177504] Windows 10 application folder does not open application

    Hi All, any news on this issue, i have a tech support call at 21:00 BST tonight (#2177370 ) on the same thing.
    Have a MBP which i upgraded to Parallels 11 before i ran the OSX 10.11 update and now the same issue.
    if i click on the windows apps folder it say it can't find a program to open this with, and i manually have to point to
    the parallel windows application folder and to the app.
    i have Win 8.1 as my VM machine. all was working perfectly in Yosemite and Parallels 11.

    Update after remote support login.

    Known issue being worked on and should be out in the next release, if you have a tech report case number they will advise you when ready.

    Hi, sorry, but this is ticket number, and we need problem report which consists of the tech information.
    You can use this KB in order to generate the report
