Hi. I apologize if similar questions have already been posted.

My Mac is running Yosemite 10.10.5. I own Parallels 9 and I'm using it to run a Windows 7 virtual machine.

I have read some of the press releases from Parallels about El Capitan, but I'm still confused. I think the press releases are saying that if I want to run a virtual machine of El Capitan then I need to upgrade to Parallels 11.

However, I'm confused about whether my current configuration will still work under El Capitan: Parallels 9 running a Windows 7 virtual machine.

    Does anyone know?

I don't want to pay $50 for an upgrade to Parallels 11 right now since version 9 is working just fine for me. And I know that El Capitan is a minor upgrade from Yosemite and that most Mac apps should still work under El Capitan.

    Thanks!

I am confused too if Parallels 11 is required for running Parallels on 10.11. I currently use Parallels 10 on 10.10 for running some Windows virtual machines.

No one has replied since my original post. However, I installed El Capitan on my older iMac which is running Parallels 9. And Parallels nine is working just fine under El Capitan. So the insistence by Parallels that you need version 11 to run under El Capitan is not true.

Daniel, based on my experience (stated above), I would guess that Parallels 10 with your Windows virtual machines will also work under El Capitan. But it's possible Parallels 11 is required to install Windows 10. It sucks that Parallels is trying to push people to buy version 11 instead of letting people know which older versions still work.

Hi, unfortunately we are not supporting the Parallels Desktop 9 with El Capitan configuration.
However, you may install the El Capitan update at your own risk and check how it works. As I know, it should work with Parallels Desktop 8 and 9, but in case of issues, we would not be able to investigate them as every version of our application has been designed with compatibility for a specific Mac OS version.

Hey, I want to upgrade my OS X to El Capitan, but like you, I also have Windows with Parallels 9. Can you confirm again that it works?
    Thanks!
