I have no idea why this has happened, but I opened my Macbook about three weeks ago and encountered a problem with some .pst files in Outlook.

I have 4x email accounts within Outlook (POP/SMTP), but I only have a problem with one account.

The four respective email addresses sit in the column on the left hand side of the screen with a toggle button, three of them open just fine... but one won't. If you try and select that mailbox the following error message comes up:

"Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file \\psf\Home\Documents\Outlook Files\ [email address].pst is not an Outlook data file (.pst)."

Not sure why this has done this, I've not changed any settings anywhere... and the other 3x email accounts are sending/receiving just fine.

Any ideas on how to remedy this would be greatly appreciated.

I have just updated to the trial of Parallels 11 and it has made no difference.

It still will not allow me to expand that particular mailbox tab (bearing in mind I have 4 email address folders, and the other 3 work fine)... so I am unable to access any of my old emails within that account. The same message appears "Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file \\psf\Home\Documents\Outlook Files\ [email address].pst is not an Outlook data file (.pst)." .... this is when I try to toggle the arrow at the side of the account to look at my previous messages.

I have gone into outlooks settings and tested the "send and receive" on the account in question and there are no issues with the mail server, the test worked fine.

I have been using a web based POP client to monitor the account since it stopped working, which is a pain. So following this mornings attempt to remedy the problem with the trial of Para11... I have now set up the POP settings for that account in Apple Mail and its working fine (although I hate the interface, and I can't use multiple accounts which is the whole reason I purchased Parallels in the first place).

Please help. I guess if I deleted the account and re-instated it from scratch (in Outlook) it would probably work again... but I would loose all my old correspondence, which is not an option.
