I've been developing under Windows XP in Parallels for a number of years. I acquired a new i7 Retina iMac this year and have been enjoying blistering performance on parallels 10 building programs under Visual Studio.
Just upgraded to Parallels 11 and have seen a substantial drop in performance. A build that previously took just under 4 minutes is now taking over 8 minutes to build.
I haven't changed any settings on the virtual machine.
Can I regress back to version 10 easily? Do I just download? Will it regress parallels tools automatically? Is it safe to do?

Also, the programs I'm building run at slower frame rate too. I have an i7 MacBook Pro running parallels 10 with the same VM and it outperforms the iMac running 11 now - previously they were pretty much the same - and the VM on the MacBook is on a USB3 external drive!!

    Thanks, I will do that.

The issue doesn't specifically occur at any time, it's consistently slower than it was before in Parallels 10.

Just to say that I've now regressed back to Parallels 10 and my performance is back up to where it was - running approximately twice as fast as the same VM in Parallels 11.
I couldn't generate a problem when the error occurred because the error is the whole thing running slowly.
I notice quite a few comments on the forums relating to Parallels 11 running slowly with various guests.
I will try running again sometime in the future when it's possible you've addressed some of the issues.

I have the EXACT issue. I develop software as well on XP. Version 10 was working at light speed. Version 11, and all the projects crawl during compiling and running. Absolutely horrible.

I don't have a CPU issue on the Mac or XP. The VM just runs horribly SLOW.

Uninstalled Version 11. Reinstalled version 10. Everything is back to high-speed.
What a complete waste of time and effort.
So I guess I'll just have to wait for full compatibility with El Capitan.

Same exact issue here guys -- I went from 10 to 11 and the speed was horrible -- rolled back to 10 and all was good. Just paid $50 to give 12 a spin and it was just as bad as I remembered 11 was. Rolling back to 10 again.

I am actually glad that I am not the only one reporting decreased performance with P11 and now with P12.

I had forwarded a problem report to tech. support. I now got version 12.0.1 installed (well, i have uninstalled it again) but no change. My W10 load times were even slightly slower as with 10.0.0. I have updated my ticket with tech. support.

I hope they escalate this to 2nd or 3rd level support.
