I have just upgraded from parallels 10 to 11 and attempted to upgrade Windows 7 to 10. The process appears to run until the final reboot and then fails, freezing the Macbook. I have tried the upgrade twice, once I let the process run and the Macbook auto rebooted itself after a long period of inaction, the second attempt I had to force a reboot. Both times attached screen was shown after relaunching windows.
I am running El Capitan PB 5

    Hi MacC1,
    Try following the steps below:
    1. Make sure you have 2-4 GB of RAM allocated to Windows. Please see this article to learn about increasing virtual machine memory (RAM).
    2. Increase your hard disk space by following this article and make sure you have at least 10 GB of free disk space available.
    3. Uninstall antivirus from Windows (if any).
Now proceed with the upgrade - it should work.

You need morw memiry than you think during the installation process. See my article for the numbers i used. You can back them down after the installation is finished.

I thought I was experiencing the same issue here. The entire MacBook would become completely unresponsive (I couldn't even go back to OSX). I hard power cycled my first two attempts. On my third attempt I simply just gave it more time. The VM upgrade process was just very very slow with periods of complete unresponsiveness. Eventually (about 2.5 hours later) everything completed and I had my Windows 10 VM. So my recommendation (in addition to making sure you have enough memory and drive space): Have patience and do this when you have other thing to keep you busy until it is done.
