i have a new MacBook Pro 13". I have read several posts with issues installing windows 10. I believe most are upgrading from a previous version on their Mac. I have a new copy of Parallels 10 and windows 10 home. Can I just install parallels 10 and then windows 10 or are there some files that I still need to download?

    Thanks for any assistance.

    Hello DavidC11,
Yes, you can definitely install Windows 10 on your Macbook pro after installing Parallels Desktop. Please follow the steps mentioned in this knowledge based article below to know more about setting up of your Virtual Machine. Also, you will not have to install aor download anything extra apart from your Windows 10 & Parallels Desktop.

I have the same question. I created a windows 10 usb for installation using the standard Windows 10 installation which I downloaded from here.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
I downloaded the 64-bit version and ran it and had the install written to a USB
But Parallels refuses to recognize this as a bootable USB.
What do I need to do (I have purchased a Windows 10 license) ?

Hi @DominicO1, I've already tried to download the same version and found cause of this issue.
So after clicking "download" you can save only the .exe format file, but for the Windows OS new installation (in VM) you need and .iso format file.
You may check this KB for more information about .iso image file.
In order to get an .iso file you can perform the following steps:
    1. Contact Microsoft and ask them how to download the installation file for Windows 10 in .iso format
    2. Use some of probable solutions from Apple or Parallels forums

I have an activation key for parallels 10 ready to install but went online to download parallels 10 and noticed parallels 11 came out. Will my activation key work for parallels 11 or is there a way to download parallels 10 and then get the free upgrade.

Make VM and settings like you want them. (Memory, "HD" space, video memory, etc.)
Win 10 Install ISO > mount in parallels as CD > boot device = cd first then HD. Install Windows 10 like a normal metal machine.
