I know this is a minor issue, but one that bugs me. When I first installed windows 7 under parallels 9, I messed up and ended up deleting it and reinstalling. However, now my VM is identified as Windows 7 1.

How can I rename the VM to reflect windows 7 and not Windows 7 1?

    Thanks

    Hi RLDumfries,

    - Start the Parallels Desktop application.
    - Go to Virtual Machine configure ( on the Top menu bar -> Actions -> Configure )
    - In the General tab, you can change the Virtual Machine's name.

Thanks. I figured it would be easy.

I have the exact same problem. I'm using parallels 10. In the general tab however I'm unable to change the name. There is a message that states "Some of the settings on this page cannot be changed until the virtual machine is shut down." (See screenshot) If I shut down the virtual machine, I no longer have access to the settings?

    Hi FredricS1,
Please shut down your windows virtual machine and then open Parallels Desktop control center.
On the control center you will find the power button of your VM and next to it will be a gear symbol. Please click on the gear symbol and go to 'General Tab'
and rename your Virtual Machine now.

That worked just fine. I was confusing the shutting of the virtual machine with shutting down parallels completely. Thanks!
