    Hello,

When I start a virtual machine with Windows, its home directory shows up on my Mac desktop. I want to get rid of this behavior.
I have already tried to check the Finder preferences, but showing external media etc. is already de-activated there.

    Hi Dhruba,

That is not a solution. I want Windows files accessible from the Mac. They should show up in Finder, but not on my desktop.

Hi AnselmM, please change this setting under virtual machine configure:
Open virtual machine configure >> Options >> Sharing >> Share Windows >> Un-check the options which says "Shortcuts to virtual disks on Mac Desktop"

Parallels uses my default language which is German. There is no corresponding option in German.

    btw:
    1. Windows crashed in Parallels, when I opened the start menu. I had to shut it down cold.
    2. I cannot check or uncheck any of the other option on the panel page on the screenshot because Parallels complained about some folder existing twice... ?!?!
    3. The forum backend refused to insert the image file above as media.

Hi, You have mentioned home directory, do you mean it is "C" Drive, if it is C drive please follow the steps suggested below:
    1. Shut down Windows Virtual machine.
    2. Go to Virtual Machine Configuration > Options > Sharing > un check "shortcuts to Virtual disks on Mac desktop"
    3. Restart Virtual Machine and check if the issue still persisting.

If the issue still persisting, please provide us the screenshot of the home directory on Mac desktop, so that we can help you better.
