During a remote desktop session it seems that some modifier keys do not function anymore Cannot type characters like {[}]\... anymore (using right-alt and right shift) There are possibly more but these I need frequently for programming. If I minimize the remote desktop window I CAN use them in my local Windows 8.1 I have a Dutch (Belgian) Parallels keyboard installed Is this a Parallels issue ??
Hello, 1. try to optimize keyboard for games: open Vm configuration (in VM menu bar actions > Configure)> Hardware > Mouse and Keyboard 2. If still no go, compare VM and remote layouts (via on-screen keyboard). Probably you will need to switch from Dutch (Belgian) Parallels to the regular one that is installed on remote computer.
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, option 1 doesn't seem to work. For option 2, if I read it well, it implies blind typing on a keyboard which isn't what it looks like, or physically swapping to another keyboard - not exactly the hassle-free RDC I had hoped for.
first option helps if modifiers are not send in the rdp session... so the problem is with keyboards mismatch. OS X and Windows layouts are different. Parallels Desktop provides virtual machines with the custom layouts to match Mac's ones. But it can't install custom layouts to the remote PCs you RDP to. You probably can create your own layout on remote PC for this purposes: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/goglobal/bb964665.aspx
