I :heart: parallels. There, i've said it. But I'm really starting to get frustrated with the _constant_ asking to activate windows 8.1! Now - some context so everyone stops telling me I've got a pirated copy, etc. etc. Context: - Windows 8.1 bootcamped. Windows _is_ activated (For argument's sake - lets just assume I know what that means, how to check that, I do this stuff all day long). - Then, install parallels and create a new VM using the bootcamp'd Win8.1 - Parallels works great! i do heaps of coding in this VM .. and blammo! Windows cries and askes to activate. Now - I get it :: You're all going to say the VM has different hardware than the bootcamp'd version. But surely there must be _some_ way the VM can fake this and pretend it's the same hardware (in name) so whatever windows uses to check the hardware, it's the same? I really don't want to call MS and wait for 30 mins for some person to give me a new number .. then i activate my win (yay!) only to find out that when I go back into bootcamp, it's now going to complain Help me Obiwan-Parallels-Kenobi - you're my only hope.
Hi Dhruba - urgh - so you're telling me that I _have_ to ring up MS phone to get a _new_ ID? What will happen when I switch back to bootcamp (which is already activated) ? I'll get asked _again_ and have to always keep ringing up that damn number?
