I have a pvm created in Parallels 4 which ran fine until I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Lion OS 10.7.5 The MBPro (late December 2006) can only go to Lion and is maxed out at 3 GB RAM. My research seems to show that the best version of Parallels to upgrade to in my case is Version 7. Version 7 is optimized for Lion and does not have the larger RAM demands of later versions. The PVM is Windows 2000 Professional and contains some software I no longer have the discs for. My question is: Will the pvm created in Parallels V 4 operate in Parallels V 7 ? Are there any specific order of installation/set up guidelines I need to follow to get the pvm to run? Thanks in advance for your input.
Hi Andrew, We have stopped supporting Parallels Desktop 4 or 7 long back. These are end of life products for us. We provide technical assistance only on the latest version i.e., Parallels Desktop 10 and the previous two versions that comes down to Parallels Desktop 8.
I'll take that as a no, Parallels virtual machines are not compatible across all versions of the Parallels Desktop product. Had I asked if I could open a Version 4 pvm in Version 8, would you have answered that? Seems like you aren't really interested in shedding an ounce of light on the question. What's the issue? Not included on your flash cards? I'm not looking for "support" just a simple answer. I'm thinking you don't know the answer, are a newbie, and don't want to waste a question of a senior c.s. agent on this. Thanks.
