I have a question about size of virtual machine. In other products (not Parallels) the size of virtual machine was very painful because the virtual machine grows too fast. I discovered the deletion didn't deleted physically files, the virtual machines mark the files as logical delete file (the file is still on the virtual machine), so the size never get down. In the new versions of parallels still works like that? Thanks.
Hi JoseP2, Could you please give us more details about it, It would be great if you can provide us the steps to reproduce the issue (1,2,3...), so that we can help you better.
Ok. As I told you, I knew about this issue many years ago. For example: 1- I make a clean install of windows, so the size of the virtual machine is (as example) 10 GB. 2- I copy any file of 1 GB, so the new size of the virtual machine is 11 GB (that is fine). 3- After that I delete the same file, so I'll would expect the new virtual machine size will be again 10 GB, but the size is still 11 GB because the virtual machine make logical deletion, not physical. With this, the virtual machine file keep growing and never go down. Thanks
Hi JoseP2, If you have a running Virtual machine Please perform the below step and let us know how it goes. 1. Empty the recycle bin in Windows > Restart the VM and check. 2. If the issue persisting, please perform "Checkdisk"and let us know how it works.
