I'm having a huge problem now and basically nothing will run. I've had parallels running on my Mac Pro for almost a year without many problems. But now almost every app that I launch gives a error saying that wininet.dll is invalid. I've tried to replace it with a good version of the file but I can't because the file is in use. I can't install any of the malware removal apps because the install executable won't run because this dll it's invalid. I've done a Windows restore to a point when I know Windows was running fine, yet the problem persists.

I have tried using time machine to restore to a point over a week ago when everything was fine. I thought time machine would replace the entire parallels file, but I still get the same error.

I tried using the Windows 8 repair tools, but it asked me to insert my copy of Windows 8 disc and with parallels I don't have a copy.

The Windows side of my computer is completely dead. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello PatrickB1,
We understand that wininet.dll files are missing from the Windows Virtual Machine, in this case you will have to repair the Windows in order to get the .dll files back and for that you need to have the Windows installation disk. If that does not resolve the issue, the Windows needs to be re-installed.

you can try to start the cmd.exe with admin-rigths and execute the command "sfc /scannow"
