Hi all, It's hard to get good IT support these days. Let me explain. Having received a new Macbook Pro, I needed to re-install Parallels. This time round I thought I would install Windows 8. All went fine, but when I opened up Launchpad I discovered it had been filled with about 20 Windows Apps, plus the directory that included all these apps as well. Whilst happy for the directory to remain, I did not want my Launchpad being filled with the individual icons again. So I submitted a help request and was dutifully sent a link to instructions on how to remove them. None of it worked, I still had the icons. So my response triggered a request to remote into my Macbook, I selected a time and it went ahead. The tech was logged in for almost an hour and I watched him repeat the steps I had been instructed to do with the same failure to remove the icons. So he just kept on deleting. End result is the Application folder that held the Windows Apps is gone, but the icons still reside in the Launchpad but do absolutely nothing when you click them. The tech finished with him advising he was going to escalate my issue to the next level and took various images and file dumps. Shortly later I received a request to organise another remote session and the person spoke as if they were not aware of the previous session. I brought to their attention the previous session and what had been done, I have heard nothing more, dropped like a hot potato. What a mess, I am now in a worse situation than when I started, and they seem to have realised this. Anyway, after more google searching I have finally been able to get rid of the dead icons, thank goodness for Google.
Hello LloydC2, We have assisted you through Support Ticket and resolved the issue by Enabling "Share Windows application with Mac" and disabled "Add applications to launchpad" from the Virtual machine Configure -> Options tab -> Applications.
Hello, yes I agree it seems that the original issue has been resolved, but please do not take credit for removing the individual icons from the Launchpad, I did that myself after the mess the previous Tech left. All you did was re-enable add the Windows folder to the Launchpad, which the first Tech turned off in his attempt to get rid of the icons. Time will only tell what other problems have been created. I suggest that if it comes to remote session, you only use your best Techs and get it right the first time.
