    Hi,

I'm posting here after a couple hours searching the forums and other online resources.
Looks like people don't run (yet ?) much into the issue.

I have a very recent (december 2014) retina macbook pro with Yosemite inside
    and Parallels 10.

With three systems (Ubuntu 14.10, Mint (17 ?) and Debian Jessie), I experience random
UI lock ups, all the while using the Cinnamon desktop.

For various reasons, I decided to standardize my dev. env on debian/Jessie and
will not insist on Ubuntu nor Mint right now.

The lock up happens quite irregularly. I have had full days without a hitch, and some
days I had to reboot several times a day to get unstuck. When the lockup happens,
the system still works (e.g. I can also ssh to it and "gdm3 restart" fixes the issue,
at the cost of my current X session).

At times, It seemed like switching from/to energy saving mode made the issue appear
quickly, but I believe it also can lock with the mac being on sector all the time.

I havent a lot of clues about the pb. I suspect (wild guesses ahead) a problem with
the 3D/Opengl side of things, because Cinnamon makes some use of it, but I can
hardly correlate it. I should probably try to run with 3D disabled for some time and
    report back here.

In the mean time, if some people have heard of this, I'd like to know :)

    Regards,
    Aurélien.

I note that I gave just 256 Mb of video RAM to the guest.
Could a low amount of video memory cause such a freeze ?
OTOH I did run a couple of webgl demos in firefox, without triggering anything.

  3. I am also seeing lockups - Mint Cinnamon and Parallels 10. Seems random and not as frequent on Mint Mate. I usually get i while on battery power. Non-Retina Macbook Pro.

I've since switched to the "notion" window manager (an old tiling crude thing) and haven't seen a lockup since.

SterlingG: do you still see the lockup after the recent parallels upgrade ? I've forgotten the exact description but it alluded to a possible problem related to graphic adapter switching between battery/sector mode causing problems. Could be somewhat related to these lockups.

  5. Yes - I am running latest Parallels 10 update with updated tools. I don't see the issue if the tools are not installed.
I also haven't seen it that I remember on OpenSuse
