not sure what broke this, but I have a relatively new install of windows 8.1 (about 1 week old). The start menu was working fine, but now it doesnt, I select the windows icon in my dock and nothing happens. if I right click to view->show Windows Start Menu, the menu will appear in the upper right corner of my second monitor (vm icon is on lower right). After the first time though, the start menu will not appear even by way of the right click method, I have to restart the VM to get it again. I wish this software just worked properly. it's so close but the clunkyness just kills it for me.
Hi DavaCazz, Please follow the steps suggested below: 1. Go to Control panel on Windows > programs and features > un install programs on the name of Stardock, 2. Restart Windows. 3. In Parallels Desktop menu bar click on View menu -> select Use Windows 7 Look again, wait to for it to install and check if the issue still persisting.
I tried that last night and it still didnt work. I grew too frustrated with windows 8 so I went back to a windows 7 VM. I have 1 4k monitor, and 1 1920x1200 monitor. if I have retina support turned off. some apps where not being displayed properly on the 4k monitor (it looked like it was trying to be full screen but it was being cropped to a small rectangle). if I had retina turned on, then it would get confused by the different aspect ratios. on the 4k, the entire app was moved upward about 100 pixels to the point where the title bar was above the top of the screen. on the non 4k monitor, the app was wider than the monitor, where the right side of the app would go under my dock and poke past the right side of the screen. btw, I half expect that the start menu issue could have been caused by aspect ratio confusion. like it somehow thought my right monitor was 4k and was rendering the start menu off screen
