I tried recently to do some cleaning and erase old files/folder I didn't needed anymore. The system wouldn't let me do it, claiming I needed "administrator permission" to erase the folder. Problem is, I always login as an administrator. I went to check in the control panel to see if something was amiss, and my administrator account is the only account on my computer, which means that, in theory, I shouldn't have trouble erasing this data, but in practice, I'm a bit at a loss here.
Hi User06, Please follow the steps as suggested below: 1. Right-click the folder which you want to delete, and choose Properties. 2. Click the Security tab 3. Click Advanced, then the Owner tab 4. Click edit, and then your username (make sure to check Replace owner on subcontainers..) 5. Click Apply, then OK, now, under Permissions, click Change Permissions 6. Click Add, then type in your username and click OK, Check the Allow box under Full Control, then click OK. 7. Now choose the Replace all child permission check box Click OK, then Apply, try to delete the folder or file. If the issue persisting, please let us know what folders/ files you want to delete and what is the version of Windows you have installed on Parallels Desktop.
I too have the same issue, but I am trying to delete a folder in C://program files, as the uninstall in control panel isn't working. I have manually made myself the owner, but I still get the error message 'you require permission from (myself!) to perform this action'. I also tried running a .reg file to give myself ownership from here - http://www.askvg.com/add-take-ownership-option-in-file-folder-context-menu-in-windows-vista/ but I still cannot delete the file. I really need to uninstall the program to be able to install it again and I have not been able to find the solution to this anywhere. Please help!
Hello I have also the same problem, apparently only trustedInstaller have permission on this folder but I don't know what this user is. Do you have any idea. I really need to modify a system file called services just to add default tcp port. I am pretty sure that on a normal windows installation I have no issue for updating this file.
