I read the self help article, and downloaded the parallels 9 update. Before I install the update, I want to be sure I understand correctly. The article states that windows will have to be reinstalled following the parallels update. Is this true? And, should I assume all windows side programs will have to be reinstalled as well? Basically like starting over? I just want to be prepared if I'm going to spend the entire afternoon at the computer...

Can you show me that article? Because, to the best of my knowledge, that isn't true.

    Hello Matt_Horton,

If you update your Parallels Desktop or if you uninstall Parallels Desktop, your Virtual machines will not be affected. You can successfully use your existing Virtual machine.

Until you remove/delete the .pvm file of your Virtual Machine manually (~/Documents/Parallels folder or in /Users/Shared/Parallels folder ), your Virtual Machine will not be removed.

As Specimen said, there isn't any knowledge base article which says, Virtual Machine will be removed after the Parallels update.

Here is an article which says, Virtual Machine will not be affected even you uninstall Parallels Desktop: http://kb.parallels.com/116992

Please let us know if you have any questions.
