I just upgraded my Parallels 9 (latest update) to 10. When I click to start up my Windows 7 VM, I get "A critical error occurred with Parallels Desktop." I've submitted the generated reports a couple of times.

Any suggestions to try to get my VM working again?

    Thanks,
    Peter

Ok, I got it started in 32-bit mode! It churned quite a while before it started. It's installing the Parallels Tools now. When it's done, I work in Win 7 a while, and then shut down and try to start in 64-bit.

Yes, now running fine. I've restarted a few times. Problem seems to be resolved.

So how did you go about getting it running? I'm experiencing the same error

    Start Parallels
    Open the settings window
    Select the Hardware tab
    Select Boot Order
In the Boot Flags box, enter: vm.app_mode=32
Now try starting your Windows VM (it started up for me, but it took a while)
    Shut down Windows
Go back to the Settings Hardware tab, and clear the text from the Boot Flags box
    Start Windows again
Everything was fine for me after that.
