Hi there, I deleted a lot of crap in my windows 7 , which I run under Parallels on a Mac Mini. Now I wanted do use this freed space for my Mac side and resized the Windows.iso with your suggested partition tool. All went well . . . But the required space is still the same. I did not gain any space. The only thing I gained is a unallocated space inside the windows.iso Hmm, that's defeats the purpose doesn't it? What did I do wrong??? Cheers Parallelsskip
Hello, Please compress virtual machine hard disk: Shut down virtual machine. Open virtual machine configuration (http://kb.parallels.com/en/117287 ) > Hardware > Hard Disk > click 'compress'. NOTE: I strongly recommend to backup virtual machine before the compressing/resizing virtual hard drive: http://kb.parallels.com/en/4859
Thanks for the answer, Marat. I did this and it freed up some nice space, but I still have 24 GB unallocated space in my Windows.hdd Question1: What does the compressing do? I have the feeling it makes Windows slower . . . Question 2: How can I get rid of the unallocated 24 GB in the Windows.hdd ?? Kind Regards Parallelsskip
Does anybody know, how to get rid of the unallocated space on the Windows.hdd I have about 24 GB there for nothing and would like to use it. KR Parellelsskip
Hi Parallelsskip, Please follow the steps suggested at http://kb.parallels.com/114654 to reclaim unused hard disk space from the Virtual machine and check how it goes!
