Just like the title says, we have a fair number of computers running Windows 8.1 using Parallels 9. All but one work great. The one that doesn't gets fairly consistent Windows activation errors and has to reboot. I've tried manually running activation and I get a message about not being able to activate with this key. I installed it in the same way as all the rest of the machines, and tried again yesterday to freshly reinstall Windows 8.1. Getting the same problem this morning, and also saw a error about registering the StartX software that Parallels installs. Any ideas what's going on here? Is it something with the installation, or did that license number get used by someone else outside the office?
Hi Hypersonic, Please try to activate your Windows Virtual Machine by following the steps as suggested at http://kb.parallels.com/113879 and check how it goes.
The downloaded .exe from that page does nothing. Those instructions don't say anything about Windows 8, is this even applicable? Am I going to cause any problems if I try this? And why is this different than the other machines that all worked perfectly? Why would one have this issue, even after a fresh install, when the rest had no issues? Thanks, Ian
Hello Ian, Please follow the instructions given at http://kb.parallels.com/114051 and check if you're able to activate Windows 8.1. If you still same issue activating Windows, Please contact Microsoft Support. Please inform Microsoft support that you have installed Windows OS successfully in the virtual machine but have not succeeded in activating it.
