Hi! After starting Parallels 9 on my MacPro 4.1 OS-X 10.9.2 I am not able to put my MacPro Into sleep. If I reboot and try to set it into sleep prior starting Parallels: that is working Once started Parallels 9 sleep is not working. Even after closing Parallels 9 my MacPro won't sleep. So there seems to be something set by Parallels 9 that hinders any sleep. Any idea?
Hi DirkVo, Please try disabling Power Nap in the Mac side as suggested at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5394 and let us know how it works!
Hi Abdul, Thanks for the Tip. I own a MacPro4.1 In that machine you can't turn on Power Nap. I did some tests: Reboot Mac - No Parallels started -> sleep works Start Parallels - No VM started -> sleep works Start Windows Server 2012 my Domain Controller -> sleep works Start Win7 -> sleep works Start Win8 -> sleep works The Mac is going to sleep via schedule each midnight -> next day no sleep sleep works mean to me: monitor goes black, hd stops turning, fans stop, power led starts blinking, machine is offline So my conclusion is: parallels and/or some of the VMs are doing something that hinders Mac from going into sleep. I already visited the genius bar in an apple store here in Germany, they also had no clue. Maybe you can contact someone from Apple to discuss any possibilities here. I am willing for any test you need. One observation from my side: If you put a MAcPro into sleep-either by pressing the power button short or via menu- the display normally geas black immediately and after some seconds (about 10s) you hear the cd drives starting and finally all fans/hds and so on goes down and power led starts blinking. In the case of failure: the process ends with the cd drives. So maybe an access to the drives from Parallels might be the problem here.
