    This error shows up on the Win7 Pro machine that I'm trying to migrate to the Mac when trying to use the external storage option.

    This migration was attempted via network and had the same error message.

    It says to reinstall PTA (parallels transporter agent). Did that - no change it did not help! Conditions: Firewall off, Virus Protection off.

    Any ideas?

    Update: A follow up error message now indicates "An error occurred while collecting information about the computer. Please contact the Parallels support team for assistance".

    Hi Manoj;

    No help from those kb's. Several don't match up due to being outdated. Snapman present and the acronis version does not help.

    The error message should be a clue - where are the libraries and why can't it access them? Simple enough right? Weeding through kb's with issues completely unrelated is not a good option.

    Thank you -

    Hi Znobrdr,

    This problem may occur in case of incorrect setup of Parallels Transporter Agent "snapman.sys" driver. Please follow the steps outlined below:

    1) In case of incorrect setup of Parallels Transporter Agent driver please reinstall Parallels Transporter Agent on your Windows PC:
    2) Uninstall Parallels Transporter Agent.
    3) Restart Windows PC.
    4) Install Parallels Transporter Agent.
    5) Restart Windows PC.
    6) Make sure that Parallels Transporter Agent was installed successfully:

    a) Open MyComputer and browse to the "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\" folder and check the presence of the “snapman.sys" driver
    b) Click on the "Start" button and browse to the "Control panel\Administrative Tools\Computer Management\<your computer>\Disk drives\STXXXXXXXX\Properties\Details". The “Class Upper Filters” option should contain “snapman” in the list of filters.

    You may need to reinstall snapman.sys driver. To do it, please follow the instructions below:

    Parallels Transporter installer contains SnapAPISetup.msi inside.

    You need to:

    1. Go to %temp% folder in MS Explorer (type %temp% in address line)
    2. Run Parallels Transporter installer, wait while it is extracting packages and do not click 'Next'. Do not close it.
    3. Installer will create two temporary folders in %temp% folder, with names like
    "{FB8A118F-F808-4A65-4CAF-DcDbd47FBB29}", and in one of them you will find SnapAPISetup.msi

    This is the Acronis SnapAPI installer, you need to copy it to your Desktop and then you may close Parallels Transporter installation.

    Double click SnapAPISetup.msi on your desktop. Choose 'Remove'.

    Restart Windows and then run SnapAPISetup.msi again and install it.

    Make sure that your antivirus is either disabled or better yet uninstalled, before you do all the actions above.

    Thanks,
    Looran

    Hi Looran;

    Thank you for your time and kind efforts. This was included in one of the earlier mentioned kb information and I did try it twice. I did it one more time after your thread just to make sure a step wasn't missed. I use Msoft security essentials and it was removed via control panel.

    Same results - still get the error message within less than 2 seconds of pressing next. Win7Pro64SP1,i7, 4GB, 256GBSSD Asus Ultrabook. Snapman was present before and now again - along with the upper class filter.

    Still hoping for some resolution, Thanks to all.

    Update on this - Parallels support contacted me and we did some detailed troubleshooting. The issue was traced to the boot process I believe UEI vs. UEFI.

    If you have the wrong boot (UEFI vs. UEI) you are just simply (for now) out of luck to transfer data using this method. Hopefully the Parallels team will look at some sort of solution for this

    Aha! Thank you for the update!
    I am running vCenter right now, to create a VMware Workstation 10.x instance, and then import that into Parallels. Seems that's the only way right now. I tried converting an Acronis TrueImage 2014 backup, but also no-go.
