Parallels 9 Won't Load Under Mavericks 10.9.2

I made the terrible mistake of upgrading from 10.6.8 to 10.9.2 yesterday afternoon on my laptop and now Parallels 9 will NOT load. I leave on a research trip tomorrow and desperately need this laptop to work. I'm dead in the water if I can't get my vm to load.

I carefully installed Parallels 9 which was working perfectly yesterday morning under 10.6.8, but now . . . . . it hangs. A problem report went to Apple and Parallels, but I NEED HELP NOW.

It never occurred to me that I would not be able to load Parallels and the vm after this upgrade. Please . . . somebody . . . help.

I fixed this issue: uninstalled Parallels 9 & emptied trash; repaired permissions on apple; restarted apple; re-installed Parallels 9. Everything works . . . for now.
