slow start after changing folder where the VM is saved.

  1. I'm using Parallels 9 running Windows 8 on Mac OS X 10.8.5 and recently decided that I didn't like having the Parallels .pvm file in my Documents folder, since the ~/Documents/Parallels subfolder was taking up too much space there, so I moved it to ~/ParallelsVMs and made the corresponding changes in Preferences > General. While it eventually works, it seems to hang for a good while (maybe 1 min.) instead of actually opening Windows 8 if I have closed the Parallels application. This happens both when I suspend the machine and when I have shutdown Windows and need to restart. When I start Windows in the latter case, I even hear the sound that Windows makes while it's opening, but I still have a grayed out screen and can't do anything for about a minute.

It doesn't happen if I haven't closed the Parallels in the meantime. So, for example, if I just suspend and resume, the behavior is fine. But if I suspend, close Parallels, then re-open Parallels, it hangs for a good while at the 100% marker before giving me access to my Windows VM. It wasn't doing this before I moved the folder. It's as if it has to go through some long process as last step because it's having trouble finding some resource, but it only loses the saved location of the resource when Parallels is closed.

Any ideas how to fix this? I prefer not to move the VM back to the default location.
