As i write this i am trying to shut down my virtual machine -- I'm at the 'windows is shutting down' screen and it's just staying there. I'm not sure what's going on -- this happens from time to time, but I don't seem to do anything differently when it does; usually I have to stop the VM from the menu; this can happen a few times, and then it will shut down on its own and I can just quit parallels. Can anyone tell me what's happening and how I can fix this?

Or if i 'reset' the machine from the menu, then shut it down, it will shut down normally; but it's really annoying when I have to do this ( I just did this now, in fact).

Sorry - this is not a fix, but a similar problem. I just installed Parallels 9 with a virtual Windows 7 machine on an iMac running OS Maverick. the VM has yet to shut down normally. I would appreciate some help with this issue too.

    Hi Straitsfan & chips7335,

I would suggest to reinstall Parallels Desktop for Mac and install Parallels Tools in your Virtual Machine.

Follow the below article for instructions:

    1. Reinstall Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac: http://kb.parallels.com/114623
    2. Install Parallels Tools in Windows Virtual Machine: http://kb.parallels.com/117710

    Thanks,
    Looran
