Just applied the latest update for Parallels 9. Windows updated fine. Ubuntu just gets to a black screen after the login. I also have no mouse control (though I can type my password at the login screen - login graphics are good ). I have turned video acceleration off. I have tried to do a "blind" update by just typing in my password at the black screen after things settled down - no luck. Tried turning acceleration of and on - no luck. I also have on the black screen a message: "System problem detected" but I can not get it to go away. I have had this problem before - I know parallels wants my to reinstall parallels tools. I did it by booting Ubuntu into text only mode (no graphics) but I cannot figure out (or remember) how to do it. Any ideas? Thanks.
Hi Kylar1, To install Parallels Tools on your VM, please go to page 175 on the Parallels Desktop for Mac user guide mentioned below: http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v9/ga/docs/en_US/Parallels Desktop User's Guide.pdf Also, follow the link below to know how to boot into text mode on your Ubuntu VM: http://ubuntuguide.net/boot-into-text-mode-and-login-automatically Thanks, Looran
No joy. I tried the procedure on pg175 - I do not have a install parallels tools but do have update, waited, did not seem to do anything. Was able to get to terminal mode but I cannot mount the ISO - unknown file type iso9660. Tried directly as root with no luck. VM was working fine until the update. And as stated before I have no mouse or video control. Ideas? Thanks.
Not familiar with the Ubuntu distros, but if it's similar to Fedora, you should be able to hold down Ctrl+Opt+F2 to go to a text login screen.
