What do I change to keep my guest OS and my host OS separate?

For example, I just installed Server 2008, and it's showing applications in the start menu from my host OS (osx). And windows applications show up on my osx menus. That makes me uncomfortable with the level of separation between the two OSs.

What I'm looking to accomplish is more like VirtualBox, where the guest OS is contained. There's no intermingling between them. Files kept in the vhd for the virtual, not spread out across my mac's filesystem. Is this possible with parallels?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Select your vm but do not open then go to Virtual Machine (along the top near the apple).
Select configuration>Options>Sharing>then uncheck options you do not want.
Next go to advanced> uncheck any options you do not want again.
