I have Parallels for Mac (version 9.0.24172) installed on my Mac Pro. Yesterday I upgraded my host OS from Mountain Lion to Mavericks (10.8.5 to 10.9.1). In doing so, it said that Parallels Service.app was incompatible with Mavericks and moved it to the Incompatible Software folder. I cannot find any info on the Parallels site regarding this problem, or even what Parallels Service does. Parallels appears to still run, so should I do anything about this app or just leave it as is?

    Hi hadleysw,

Please follow the steps outlined below:

    1. Shut down your Virtual Machine and quit Parallels Desktop
    2. Open Applications folder and drag the Parallels Desktop icon into the Trash
    3. Empty the Trash
    4. Restart your Mac
    5. Launch Disk Utility application located in Applications/Utilities > in Disk Utility click on Macintosh HD > click Repair Disk Permissions.
    6. Install Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac by following: http://kb.parallels.com/116989

    Thanks,
    Looran
