I've got a Macbook (late 2008) running Mac OS 10.9.1 (Mavericks), using Parallels 9 to run Windows 7 Professional. I've been having trouble burning data to a DVD. About a month ago, I was trying to burn a copy of an installation disk to DVD. It went through all the motions of burning but in the end rejected the DVD. After repeating the process with a new DVD, it worked. Yesterday, I tried burning some data files onto a DVD. It went through all the motions but then quit again, saying that I might need to update my firmware. I tried restarting Windows 7, 2 more new disks, but nothing worked. Eventually, I just used the Mac OS to burn the DVD since in this case (music .mp3 and .wma files), it shouldn't matter, but I'm worried there may be a conflict between Parallels 9 and Mavericks. I've burned DVDs using Windows 7 from Parallels 7 and Mountain Lion before with no problem, so I don't think it's an issue with Windows 7 (but I could be wrong). My drive also made a loud noise when I went from Mac OS to Windows 7, which was a problem the new firmware update 3.0 was supposed to fix. But, I looked up my Superdrive's firmware, and according to the Mac website, it is up to date (firmware is Revision KB19). Is there a Windows-based firmware that I should be updating? Anybody else having this problem?
