I need some BIG help. The situation is that I’m running OS-X 10.9.1 along with Windows 7 via Parallels 8.0.18608 on a late version of the MacBook Air. Everything in the system was worked great until this afternoon. While in Windows, I noticed there was a Windows 7 update available. Generally I always do these updates when they appear and I did so today. The update started, but then appeared to freeze when installing 4 of 14.
I don’t remember if I installed Windows directly from OS-X or if I used the Bootcamp option, but I think it was the latter. I can’t find any option to boot directly from Bootcamp.
I’m on a 2 month road trip and have numerous files that were saved in Win7 and now have no path to these files. I tried to boot directly in the Safe mode, but that doesn’t seem to work (I held the F8 key while starting to Parallels). Wish I had brought a memory stick to backup the files I'm worried about losing.
Is there anyway to boot to the safe mode and then delete this failed update?
If all else fails, perhaps when I get home, I can reinstalled Parallels/Win7 and gain access to these files.
Any help in getting into Windows 7 would certainly be APPRECIATED!
