This morning I was prompted to update my install of parallels. I did so and now after the process parallels is stuck at the little splash and I no longer have access to my VMs. I require the use of windows on my mac ASAP as I have a test to write in windows. When I needed it the most parallels is letting me down. Can't find anything in the self-help. Not impressed.

Now I find I can't mount any kind of external drive (USB) either. I am afraid to reboot my macbook pro now because of this botched install.

I've never had ANY success with any of the Parallels updates. Once installed, if it is working, leave it alone (my original install worked fine, three updates to PD* and the upgrade to PD9 all have issues). If you are in a hurry and don't feel like a never-ending process of trying to get it to work, try going back to the original version that you had working.

All your downloads are in ~/Library/Parallels/Downloads.

Not overly impressed with the support around here. Glad I got it for the student price.

I rebooted the MBP and it crashed at boot then booted and it works for now. I am in school for programming and windows is a requirement for some of the tools I have to use. I am being taught about how not to support your customers here right now.

Where does my windows 8.1pro install go if I uninstall parallels?

After it had it's fit everything seems to be working fine. I'm not messing with it.

I've un-installed and re-installed som many things so many times I'm surprised my MacBook isn't worn out from it by now.

I got an idea - why doesn't Parallels test their products and make them work before putting them out? The past several updates for PD8 and this piece of junk PD9 have all had the same issues. Fix them!
